Negotiation and Agreement Assignment

Assignment 01:

You are looking for a 2022 Ford Explorer to buy or lease. You will contact any car dealer (preferably an authorized Ford dealer) to negotiate your best deal (do not sign any agreements under any circumstances; this is only an assignment to apply and sharpen your negotiation skills). Do not tell them that you are doing this as an assignment; you have to behave as an interested buyer.

You need to be well prepared for this adventure because you will be dealing with trained, skilled, and professional negotiators. Keep in mind that the more you know about the dealership and the product, the better chances you have of getting the best deal (due diligence is highly encouraged). You will submit a written report (and discuss your results with your classmates). The report should include details of your initial approach to the dealership until the time you walk away with the best deal (without signing any agreements). You should also include the type of offer whether it is a lease or purchase, the details of the vehicle’s model, and financial information. This is an individual assignment. Each student is required to upload their completed assignment on Blackboard by the stated due date/time. Your completed assignment must be a minimum of two type-written pages of body/text (APA style). I am not looking for any specific answers. I want you to think, critically think, and deeply think about the situation and get the best deal possible. Write about your experience.

  Assignment 02:

Donald John Trump was the head of the executive branch of the government of the United States of America (president). On April 22, 2016, then President Barak Obama signed the Paris Agreement on climate change mitigation in New York City; representatives from 196 countries attended the conference. As of 2019, 196 states plus the European Union have signed the agreement. Further, 183 nations and the European Union have ratified the agreement. The main purpose of the Paris Agreement is to fight back against climate change. On June 1, 2017, then President Trump announced that the USA would cease all participation in the 2015 Paris Agreement on climate change mitigation. On November 4, 2019, the Trump Administration gave a formal notice of intention to withdraw, which takes 12 months to take effect. The decision to sign the agreement was a global strategic decision and so is the decision to withdraw from the agreement.

How did the US entry into the agreement affect global business and how do you think the decision to withdraw from the agreement could affect global business?

You have to keep in mind that business/commerce/trade are not separate from political actions and decisions; they are intimately close and radically affect each other. Think of social, economic, financial, political, legal, and environmental effects of the agreement. Think about the global image of the USA.

The purpose of the assignment is for you to learn about how politics affects international commerce and vice versa. Please focus on quality rather than quantity. This is an individual assignment. Each student is required to upload their completed assignment on Blackboard by the stated due date/time. Your completed assignment must be a minimum of two type written pages of body/text (APA style). I am not looking for any specific answers. I want you to think, critically think, and deeply think about the case, and then answer the questions (think of all the stakeholders). Please feel free to elaborate on any matters beyond the boundaries of the questions posed
